Born on slave ships or 'in the breasts of sailors', in the infamous alleys of Lisbon, where it passed through to the royal halls, Fado is the popular music of Portugal because it was adopted by the Portuguese people as an expression of their nationality and conquered the World and not just the vast world of the Portuguese language.
